Life & Work with Luna Malyna Adams By Voyage Utah Magazine
Today we’d like to introduce you to Luna Malyna Adams.
Hi Luna Malyna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Luna Malyna! I am a 29 year old professional photographer currently located in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been published in multiple newspaper and magazine publications such as New York Weekly, ThunderRoads Magazine, Pump Magazine, and many more. I specialize in portraits specifically and that ranges from headshots, automotive, and event photography both for creative and commercial purposes. I have been photographing all the amazing things life has to offer for the last twelve years now. I started out capturing photos of nature and vintage cars as I adventured across the United States. I then moved towards portraits and fashion photography for a few years and ran group photoshoot events across the valley. I started my official photography business with the state of Utah in 2015. And have been hired on as a lead photographer for many amazing businesses such as the Rawtin Garage, Salt Lake Autorama, and HKParts. Jump forward to today and I now have a thriving photography company where I get to work with amazing companies and models from across the world. I have also created a project combining both of my photography passions for auto and pinup photography called Motor Maidens! Through that project, I am using my art to empower women in the pinup and motor industry everywhere! It has always been my mission to help everyone turn their dream, vision, or passion into a reality! Photography for me is an expression of art from the soul, and it is an amazing experience for everyone involved! I live to see the smiles and happiness my photos bring to the people of the world!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I wouldn’t say its been an easy road by any means, like many other entrepreneurs and independent business owners there are always struggles and challenges along the path to success but thats what honestly teaches you the most. Failing is the only way to really learn and to grow. When you become an independent business owner of any type you must have that passion and fire within to push through the hard times and grow. For me, there is a flame burning within my soul yearning to create something beautiful that everyone can enjoy. I would say most of us artists here in the Salt Lake valley create because we love it with a passion in our hearts. We love helping people create special everlasting moments in time whether it be events, photos to feel beautiful, videos of special memories, etc. Everything else that comes with it is just a bonus or a lesson to learn from. I am always growing and expanding my talents and craft and over coming any challenges thrown at me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in Portrait photography and have met thousands of incredible models because of it. It started out as creative photography concepts and turned into more commercial and automotive photography later on. I am known for being regularly attending local car shows around the state of Utah and taking excellent automotive photos. I have proudly been recognized by the car community in Utah as one of the top local photographers and have earned multiple plaques of recognition because of it. Also because of this reputation I was asked to be the official photographer for the Salt Lake Autorama last year and did all of their event and automotive photos! But I would have to say what I am most proud of is the compliments and respect I get not only from the community but the amazing companies and models I have worked with. I have been recognized as a safe photographer to work with by multiple models, and have had many of them express to me that they have never felt more comfortable or had more fun with anyone at a photoshoot before. This makes my heart so happy to hear because I really do try my hardest to create a safe and fun place for clients to express their creativity and their bodies freely without fear or judgement. Especially for my female clients, I love empowering women of all types and backgrounds! I have love and respect for anyone that chooses art in its purest form to express the beauty of their inner souls as they want to be shown!
What does success mean to you?
I believe success is defined differently by each individual person but to me it is the ability to live your life the way you want to, free of the anxieties and fears that can come with it. Doin what you love and are most passionate about. While being surrounded by people who you admire, love, and respect deeply in your heart.

Salt Lake Photographers & Models Network
I had an amazing interview with Francis Wong who runs the Salt Lake Photographers and Models Network Group! He reached out wanting to feature me in his exclusive group because a recent poll taken among the Utah photo community showed that I was voted as one of the safest female photographers in the state! I was extremely grateful and honored to featured and known for something I try my hardest to promote! No matter where I go or who I work with, I always try to create a safe and fun environment for everyone attending, so it made my heart overwhelmed with joy to hear this! I quickly sent him over my favorite photos and interview answers and he created the amazing collage above and featured me in the group the same day! I am forever grateful for the love and support I get from the photo community in Utah, and huge shout out again to Francis Wong for featuring me in his exclusive group! Below you can read over the interview and my responses! Thank you all again and happy viewing!
When did you start your career?
I started photographing nature and family at the age of 16. From 16 to 21 I did mostly nature and architectural photography. When I turned 21 I began photographing cars and motorcycles because I grew up as a motorhead. After a year of that I decided to take on portraits and since then I have combined my two niches and created a company that showcases the two perfectly. What type of work have you gotten so far?I have worked on the set of the Americas Real Deal television series. I have also worked as an event and commercial photographer for Rawtin Garage, Black Stitch Label, Indian Motorcycle, Harley Davidson Motorcycle, Law Tigers, Moto Jam Productions, Autorama, and Utah Motorsports Campus. I have also done photos for numerous different clothing and jewelry companies across the world. I have been published locally, nationally, and internationally in fifteen different magazines to date.
What is your favorite type of shoot if you must choose one?
I would have to say my all time favorite type of aesthetic is anything moody or street style. But I also have a love for all things pin up or spooky.
Who inspired you to do what you do?
I was originally inspired by family, specifically my mother, to pursue my photography passions. But in the end it was Meredith Devine who pushed me to combine my two photography niches to create the photos I love and enjoy today!
